Roman baths and sacred places

We will take you, following the course of Velino river crossing San Vittorino’s Plateau, to discover archaeological evidences of Roman Age and Christians and pre-Christians sacred places, like Terme of Vespasiano and Basilica of Santa Maria Extra Moenia. Here, the large circulation of underground mineralized water, causing a strong erosion of subsoil, has allowed the formation of basins like Paterno’s lake, and the collapse of the ground, as proved by the church consacrated to San Vittorino, built in XVII century on a spring-area and which nave is actually submerged by water. The visit at the fascinating town of Cittaducale will be the corollary of the excursion.
